We research and quantify the benefits of the Modal Shift of Freight from Road to Rail by analysing current infrastructure and proposed improvements. Our computer models enable us to calculate the costs and benefits proving:
• Saving on energy use.
• Saving on journey time.
• Improving capacity utilisation
• Additional capital costs and savings
The model is not constrained by capacity or distance and consequently we can analyse major transport corridors. For instance: A major new transport corridor, directly and rapidly connecting the East Coast and Europe to the West coast via the Midlands, removing the North London bottleneck.
We can support environmental impact statements by calculating the cost/saving of carbon, energy, noise, water and land usage when supplied with the appropriate parameters. The model works from geospatial data and allows a high degree of resolution.
